Job Description
The Community Engagement & Communications Intern supports DonateLifeAZ Registry and Donor Network of Arizona's efforts to promote and educate the public about organ and tissue donation. The focus of this internship is to increase donation registrations and awareness of the DonateLifeAZ Registry through marketing, communications and community outreach initiatives.
This role provides valuable, real-world experience in nonprofit communications and community engagement. The intern is considered an integral part of the Community Engagement & Communications team, and their ideas, creativity, and input are encouraged and valued. The internship is part time (15-28 hours per week), with flexible scheduling arranged between the intern and supervisor. Work-related mileage is reimbursed.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Communications
  • Assist with marketing campaigns and outreach efforts promoting the DonateLifeAZ Registry and community engagement programs
  • Support the writing, editing and distribution of press releases and other media materials
  • Assist with translations of marketing materials, social media content, and Spanish-language press releases (Bilingual Intern only)
  • Contribute written content for organizational newsletters, including:

  • Funeral Home Connection
  • Emergency Professional Connection
  • All Things DNA
  • Volunteer

Social Media & Digital Engagement
  • Assist with managing and creating content for social media platforms, including promoting Donate Life Arizona, Done Vida Arizona and Donor Network of Arizona
  • Help develop social media and marketing plans to promote upcoming events and initiatives
  • Track and log media coverage and social media engagement metrics

Community Outreach & Events
  • Assist with coordinating registry drives with local community groups, businesses, and partner organizations
  • Support event planning, setup and breakdown as needed
  • Assist with preparing and distributing promotional materials and department mailers

Creative & Design Support
  • Assist with creating graphics, flyers, videos and other promotional materials for internal and external campaigns or events

Administrative & Special Projects
  • Support general administrative tasks related to communications and engagement efforts
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Minimum Education
  • Majoring in a communication-related field and in good standing with the university.
  • Currently in college
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments

  • 0-6 Months
