Basic Job Functions:
In this role, you will be responsible for designing a variety of different steel racking systems,
including Tuberacks, Drive-In racks, Cantilever racks, Pushback, and Pallet Flow racks. Your
duties will include, but aren't limited to:
• Creative Engineering: Develop safe and economical steel racking systems that
fulfill project requirements while adhering to industry codes and standards. Each
project is unique!
• Technical Analysis: Utilize industry software for structural frames, beams, bracing,
mezzanine, and platforms to ensure structural integrity and performance.
• Collaborative Approach: Work closely with the Project Managers, Design
Department, and other team members to communicate engineering requirements
effectively and ensure seamless project execution.
• Oversight: Review and check structural drawings for accuracy.
• Continuous Learning: Embrace opportunities to grow and develop as an engineer,
collaborating with various teams throughout the division to find innovative solutions and explore unique career paths within our organization.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/Architectural Engineering from an ABET
Accredited school.
• Professional Engineer registration in the United States or 3-5 years of
structural engineering experience
• Strong knowledge of structural codes: IBC, AISC 360, AISC 341, ASCE7, AISI,
etc.
• Proficient in verbal and written communication in English.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A strong background in Engineering in the steel racking industry.
• Structural Engineer registration in the United States.
• Proficiency with some type of steel racking software package.
• Leadership experience.
