Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Charge Nurse, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team. Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives. To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

Responsibilities

  • Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
  • Care for patients before during and after procedures
  • Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
  • Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

Honoring your commitment to care for others is thanks enough. Our leadership is visible and the hospital is expanding its services. Call is required and is based on shift and patient volume. Our surgical department consists of 8 operating rooms with a designated cardiac and urology suite. The OR suites are equipped with state-of-the-art lighting tables and equipment. While all service lines are supported hearts vascular major ortho and neuro spine are the most prominent.

The recent addition of the DaVinci Xi will allow this surgery department to provide a high level of care. This collaborative department supports learning and professional growth. We believe in a teamwork approach where each person is respected and valued.

We are not currently accepting new graduate or new to speciality applications. The most current information for new graduate (<12 months experience as an RN) and fellowship programs (>12 months experience as an RN) can be found at National Nurse Residency Program.

This position is represented by CNA.

Job Requirements

Required

  • 6 months previous acute care RN experience in same unit Required
  • Current and Active Registered Nurse CA
  • AHA Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Preferred

  • Bachelors of Nursing BSN
  • Moderate Sedation training for all monitored areas
  • OR charge nurse experience or comparable leadership roles within a perioperative setting
