Position Summary
The Laboratory Student Assistant will assist in the weekly operations of biochemistry research and teaching laboratories. Typical duties will include washing and setting-up laboratory glassware, making solutions, performing inventory of laboratory supplies, and assisting biochemistry faculty with other laboratory preparation duties as assigned. The Laboratory Student Assistant will report to the Chemistry Lab Manager.
This is a student position open to current UIW students.
Essential Functions
  • Prepare and put away sterile glassware.
  • Make solutions using recipes.
  • Monitor laboratory supply stocks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Current UIW student with a 2.5 GPA or higher.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior completion of one semester of a chemistry laboratory course.
  • Majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, or biology.

Work Hours
  • Flexible 12 hours per week work schedule to be determined.
  • General availability during normal 8-5 work hours and some evenings.

Physical Demands
Ability to reach, squat, stoop, and lift at least 30 lbs.
