Job description

Housekeeper

Department: Housekeeping

Reports To: Plant Operations Director

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Lincoln Village Healthcare Center, Lincoln, IL


PAY: $15.00 per hour

HOURS: 6:00AM-2:00PM, and every other weekend

What We Are Looking For:

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as facility policies. This includes resident rooms, common areas, bathrooms, and offices. The Housekeeper plays a key role in ensuring the comfort and safety of residents, staff, and visitors.

What You Will Do:

Cleaning & Sanitation

  • Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas according to facility schedules and infection control standards.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust assigned areas daily.

  • Disinfect high-touch surfaces to reduce the spread of illness.

  • Dispose of trash and soiled linens in compliance with infection control guidelines.

Resident-Centered Service

  • Respond promptly to resident housekeeping requests with courtesy and respect.

  • Maintain residents’ personal belongings in an orderly fashion while cleaning.

  • Report any concerns regarding resident health or safety to the appropriate supervisor.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all infection prevention and control protocols, including proper PPE use.

  • Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely, in accordance with manufacturer instructions and facility policies.

  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions, broken equipment, or maintenance needs.

Linen & Supply Management

  • Collect, transport, and deliver clean and soiled linens as assigned.

  • Maintain housekeeping carts and storage areas in a clean and organized condition.

  • Monitor supply levels and notify supervisor when restocking is needed.

What You Will Bring:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Previous housekeeping or environmental services experience preferred, especially healthcare or senior living setting.

  • Ability to follow written instructions.

  • Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and infection control procedures.

  • Compassion and respect for elderly and disabled individuals.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs.

  • Frequent bending, kneeling, standings, and walking.

  • Ability to work with cleaning chemicals safely.

Work Environment:

The Housekeeper works throughout the facility, often in occupied resident rooms and common areas. The role requires interaction with residents, staff, and visitors, and involves exposure to cleaning chemicals and potential infectious agents.
