Company information:  Aerospace MFG Company is a global provider of manufacturing and engineering services, engineered and structural solutions for complex applications in aerospace, defense and industrial markets! 
Industry and what does the company do?  Aerospace company based in Los Angeles is seeking a Commodity Buyer!
Job Title:  Commodity Buyer
Shift Hours:  6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (plus OT)
Location:  South Bay
Pay:  $30.00 to $38.00 (depending on experience) / Job Class: Temp
Description:  Buyer is responsible for sourcing and managing commodity materials (especially metals like aluminum, titanium, and steel) to support manufacturing operations. The role focuses on cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance across multiple projects and business units.
  • Execute sourcing strategies, process purchase orders, and negotiate pricing and lead times
  • Analyze sourcing data, track market trends, and optimize supplier selection
  • Manage supplier relationships, contracts, performance, and issue resolution
  • Track KPIs such as cost reduction, inventory, lead times, and supplier performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related)
  • 5+ years in strategic sourcing/procurement, ideally in aerospace or manufacturing
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and bill of material
  • Familiarity with ISO/QS systems, lean principles, and continuous improvement
  • Certifications (Six Sigma, APICS, CPSM/CPM) are a plu
  • Pass background and drug screen
