Job description

Overview

The Safety Coordinator supports Mainstream Fiber Networks' safety operations across field installations, maintenance operations, warehouses, and customer service locations. This role ensures compliance with safety policies, manages safety documentation and training, and serves as an active member of the Safety Committee. The position requires both office and field presence to embed safety culture into daily operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with site inspections at fiber installation and maintenance sites, warehouses, and customer locations to verify compliance with MSFN safety policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and delivery of safety training programs.
  • Perform regular inspections of gear, equipment, and tools.
  • Serve as a leading member of the Safety Committee.
  • Assist with incident investigations and follow-up activities.
  • Prepare and present weekly toolbox talk topics and occasional safety alerts.
  • Create training certificates, maintain documentation, and complete administrative tasks.
  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS), fleet tracking data, and training records.
  • Ensure regulatory Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements are met and maintain required documentation for fleet and drivers.
  • Assist with development and implementation of the employee recognition program for safety excellence.
Qualifications

Required

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
  • Ability to pass DOT physical examination
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
  • Minimum two years of experience in a safety-related role or with direct safety responsibilities

Preferred

  • Experience in fiber and telecom, utility construction, or similar field operations environment
  • Familiarity with fleet safety tracking systems

Certifications and Training

  • OSHA 30 in general in industry or construction.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (CHST).
  • Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST).
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a safety related field.
  • Completion of OSHA Training Institute courses.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Time in the field at jobsites, warehouses, and installation locations (80%).
  • Ability to occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional overnight travel (10%).
  • Must be able to work in varied weather and outdoor conditions.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record maintained throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical examination.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
