Deputy Director of Integrated Marketing

The Deputy Director of Integrated Marketing is a key leadership role responsible for helping advance AUSA's strategic priorities through integrated marketing, audience growth, and operational excellence. Serving as the trusted deputy to the Director of Marketing, this position leads cross-channel campaigns, supports revenue-generating initiatives, strengthens chapter marketing nationwide, and helps drive efficient execution across the department.

The ideal candidate is an organized, proactive marketer who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution. This individual excels at balancing competing priorities, leading growth initiatives, and building systems that improve performance in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Department Operations

  • Serve as a trusted second-in-command to the Director of Marketing, advancing high-priority initiatives and ensuring continuity of leadership.
  • Support execution of AUSA's marketing strategy and organizational priorities.
  • Provide brand stewardship and ensure consistency with AUSA's style, voice, and visual standards.
  • Prioritize incoming requests and allocate team resources based on strategic impact, deadlines, and capacity.
  • Respond quickly to emerging priorities and high-visibility initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ensure projects are executed on time and to a high standard.

Growth Marketing & Paid Media

  • Generate and lead new campaign ideas, promotional strategies, and audience growth initiatives aligned with AUSA priorities and emerging opportunities.

Program Promotion & Audience Development

  • Drive audience growth, participation, and engagement across AUSA initiatives, including membership, events, leadership development, educational resources, Soldier programs, and family readiness efforts.
  • Support fundraising and donor engagement campaigns through audience targeting, compelling messaging, and multichannel promotional strategies.
  • Support development and promotion of video and multimedia content to expand audience reach and engagement.
  • Develop and refine high-performing marketing copy and messaging across campaigns, events, email, and member communications.
  • Expand reach through coordinated organic social media, email, web, and partner distribution channels.

Digital Experience, Analytics & Email Marketing

  • Partner with web staff to improve website performance, landing pages, user experience, and conversion outcomes.
  • Track campaign performance using platforms such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Manager, and email systems.
  • Develop dashboards and actionable reporting to guide decision-making.
  • Lead or support the development, scheduling, and optimization of email marketing and drip campaigns using tools such as Pardot.
  • Maintain content accuracy, segmentation, and audience targeting.

Marketing Operations, Events & Collateral

  • Develop clear creative briefs and coordinate asset production with internal design staff.
  • Review and guide creative work from designers and vendors, providing clear feedback to strengthen visual impact, messaging effectiveness, and brand consistency.
  • Oversee vendor relationships for print, promotional, and production services.
  • Oversee development and production of branded merchandise, print collateral, promotional materials, and campaign assets.
  • Manage chapter marketing support requests and fulfillment needs.
  • Support national and regional events through coordination, packing, shipping, and tracking of marketing materials and supplies.

Chapter Growth & Community Marketing

  • Partner with AUSA's 120+ chapters to increase local awareness, individual membership growth, volunteer engagement, and attendance at chapter events and programs.
  • Provide hands-on consultative support to chapter leaders, helping them market events, recruit volunteers, promote programs, and strengthen community presence.
  • Identify and share best practices across chapters to improve local marketing performance, fundraising success, and member engagement nationwide.

Cross-Team Communication

  • Serve as strategic liaison between Marketing and internal stakeholders, aligning priorities, communicating recommendations to senior leadership, and delivering responsive support while balancing team capacity.

Budget & Administration

  • Support budget tracking, invoice processing, reconciliations, and vendor documentation.
  • Maintain internal procedures, records, and marketing documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field. Familiarity with the Army community, defense environment, or mission-driven membership organizations preferred.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in integrated marketing, growth marketing, communications, or related roles.
  • Proven ability to lead independent initiatives and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of paid media, email marketing, campaign analytics, and audience growth strategies.
  • Experience with content marketing, messaging development, and multichannel campaign execution.
  • Strong creative judgment with the ability to evaluate design work and provide constructive feedback aligned with brand and campaign goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage projects through others, and drive accountability.
  • Proven organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional partners and communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Experience using data, testing, and reporting to improve performance and ROI.
  • Familiarity with Pardot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and service aligned with AUSA values.
  • Occasional travel required.
