Job description

Description The hiring salary for this position is $43,600 - $46,120 annually. The full range for this position is $43,600 - $66,447 annually. Job Summary: Performs a variety of manual tasks and activities related to the construction of MetCom facilities, including, but not limited to operating and maintaining various machines and equipment.

Examples of Duties Essential Functions: Operates a back hoe and skid loader Operates a dump truck and trailer Maintains all equipment as assigned, including, but not limited to: backhoe, skid loader, dump truck, tool truck, trailer, chainsaw, tamper, water pump, etc. Performs maintenance on well houses and wastewater equipment and systems Installs or maintains roofs, steps, walls, and dry wall Paints facilities as assigned Assists with road construction Performs standby duties on a rotational basis. Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned Typical Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (These are pre-employment KSA that apply only to Essential Job Functions.): Ability to gain working knowledge of St

Mary's County Metropolitan Commission policies and procedures Ability to act as a representative of St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission to the public Knowledge of relevant maintenance and repair practices and procedures Knowledge of safety regulations and established procedures for operating and maintaining equipment as well as for ensuring safety A working knowledge of excavation, Utility and Construction practices General knowledge of Maintenance of Construction equipment Obtain flagger training. As needed, the Construction Laborer will be required to be available on standby to respond to afterhours emergencies Required Qualifications (Note: Any acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience that provides the above knowledge, abilities and skills may be substituted on a full-time year for year basis.): Training and/or Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D

and 1 year or more of related job experience Experience: Or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience Licenses or Certificates: Must possess a valid Maryland Driver's License. Must obtain Maryland CDL, Class A within 18 months. Special Requirements: None Physical Demands: Work requires constant physical effort in the handling of heavy tools, equipment, or materials or 60 pounds or more.
