Trailer Technician

Hiawatha, IA | On-Site

Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (No Weekends)


A locally owned utility trailer shop based in Hiawatha, IA is seeking self-motivated Trailer Technicians to join its service team.


The role is ideal for someone who is well-rounded in their knowledge of repair with the ability to be hands-on and resourceful with repair and replacement parts, and takes pride in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of trailer and towing equipment. Skills involving hydraulics, suspension, brakes, electrical systems, and welding will be highly valued.

What You'll Do

  • Service and repair a variety of trailers, including but not limited to utility trailers, car and cargo trailers, race haulers, and horse trailers
  • Perform work on brakes, suspension, tires, lighting, electrical systems, and small part hydraulics
  • Perform welding and fabrication projects
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and structural issues
  • Replace and repair trailer components (doors, floors, rails, roofs, posts, side panels)
  • Perform axle, suspension, hitch and wiring work
  • Maintain organized work areas and assist with parts coordination


What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in trailer, auto or equipment repair (open to less experience with strong mechanical aptitude)
  • Experience with electrical, brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and welding
  • Self-driven, high performer, and motivated by job quality
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
  • Spanish language skills are a plus


Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs (with assistance)
  • Ability to climb, bend, and work in a physical environment
  • Valid driver's license
