Job description

Job Description Summary The Technology Director will provide strategic and technical leadership for critical Enterprise Services & Business Platforms. This leader will have end-to-end accountability for technology strategy, architecture, engineering, modernization, delivery, and production stability across a portfolio of business-critical applications. The Director will lead multiple engineering teams and technology leaders and partner closely with business, product, architecture, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data organizations. The role requires strong technical depth, people leadership, and the ability to drive engineering excellence while translating business priorities into scalable, resilient technology solutions.

Job Description

This position follows a hybrid work model, with an expectation to be in the office 3 days per week at the St. Petersburg, FL Corporate Office location. Please note: This role is not eligible for Work Visa sponsorship, either currently or in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Lead multiple technology teams across geographic locations, including managers, architects, technical leads, developers, and analysts.
  • Establish technology strategy and roadmaps aligned with business objectives, enterprise architecture, modernization priorities, and organizational strategy.
  • Own architecture, engineering, delivery, production stability, resiliency, scalability, and technical health across the application portfolio.
  • Provide technical leadership across full-stack development, APIs, microservices, integration frameworks, workflow/decisioning platforms, cloud technologies, Angular, Java/Spring and distributed systems.
  • Drive modernization toward API-first, event-driven, modular, and cloud-ready architectures while reducing technical debt.
  • Maintain accountability for highly available production environments, including incident/problem/change management, disaster recovery, observability, performance, and root-cause remediation.
  • Drive engineering excellence through automation, CI/CD, DevSecOps, automated testing, observability, resiliency, and measurable engineering standards.
  • Champion adoption of AI-assisted software engineering and identify opportunities to apply Generative AI, Machine Learning, and agentic technologies to engineering, operations, and business capabilities.
  • Manage workforce capacity, vendors, technology priorities, and investment decisions while balancing business value, risk, modernization, and technical debt.
  • Develop technology leaders and build a culture of accountability, innovation, collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate technology strategy, risks, incidents, and investment decisions effectively to senior business and technology leaders.
  • Participate in production support and executive escalations, including nights, weekends, and on-call responsibilities when required.
Skills
  • Significant technology leadership experience managing multiple engineering teams supporting large-scale, business-critical enterprise platforms.
  • Strong experience across the SDLC, including architecture, engineering, modernization, delivery, and production operations.
  • Experience designing and operating large-scale Java/Spring Boot API and microservices platforms including integration frameworks, distributed systems, and full-stack development.
  • Strong understanding of modern solution architecture, including API-first and event-driven architectures, cloud platforms, DevOps/DevSecOps, CI/CD, automation, and observability.
  • Demonstrated experience modernizing legacy applications and operating highly available production platforms.
  • Proven ability to develop technology leaders, manage geographically distributed teams, partner with senior business stakeholders, and influence across organizational boundaries.
Preferred Skills
  • Financial-services, wealth-management, client-onboarding, or enterprise technology experience preferred.
  • Experience with Generative AI/LLMs, Machine Learning, and agentic programming/AI architectures.
  • Familiarity with GenAI patterns including RAG, embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, model evaluation, and guardrails.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering to improve development velocity, quality, modernization, testing, troubleshooting, or production operations.
  • Financial-services, wealth-management, client-onboarding, or enterprise-services technology experience preferred.
