Job Summary:
General Matter is enriching uranium in America, aiming to design and operate the worldโs lowest-cost enrichment services. The Simulation Software Engineer will design and build high-fidelity simulators for critical physics and hardware system modeling, working closely with engineering teams to enhance testing and simulation capabilities.
Responsibilities:
โข Architect and own simulators for large, distributed systems with complex interactions, feedback loops, and failure modes.
โข Model system dynamics and control behavior across nominal and off-nominal operating conditions.
โข Build scalable infrastructure for high-volume simulation, scenario generation, and automated validation.
โข Define correctness criteria and validate simulation outputs against test and real-world data in partnership with systems and hardware teams.
Qualifications:
Required:
โข BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
โข 7+ years of experience building simulators for complex, real-world systems.
โข Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python with experience handling large data flows.
โข Deep understanding of modeling distributed systems, control systems, or physical processes.
โข Experience validating simulations against empirical data or hardware-in-the-loop setups.
โข High standards for correctness, robustness, and engineering rigor.
โข Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
Preferred:
โข Experience simulating industrial, aerospace, energy, or similarly complex systems (e.g., chemical plants, rockets, power grids).
โข Background in control theory, numerical methods, or systems modeling.
โข Experience running large-scale simulations for design validation or fault analysis.
โข Familiarity with performance optimization and parallel or distributed simulation.
โข Experience operating in high-stakes engineering environments where correctness is critical.
