Job description

Position Purpose
The Registered Nurse delivers high-quality, patient-centered care by applying clinical knowledge and expertise within the context of the nursing process. This includes individualized patient outcomes, coordination of care and educational support to patients.
This role works in close collaboration with cardiology physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) to enhance both patient care and the overall patient experience. Additionally, the RN supports departmental leadership in promoting clinical excellence and facilitating the work of the provider team.
Nature and Scope
• Provides patient care, assessment and planning in close collaboration with the physician, APP and multi-disciplinary teams. Is responsible for facilitating patient communications as needed, including but not limited to phone calls and MyChart messaging and will utilize resources efficiently and effectively
• May be responsible for administering treatment and medications per policy, as needed
• The incumbent has the added responsibility of providing a communication as a direct liaison between provider and patient, making certain that the patient's questions and concerns have been addressed.
  • This position will utilize clinical protocols to facilitate patient care and support

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based upon physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served.
• Uses EPIC to document all chart and phone encounters, identifies potentially avoidable/non-reimbursed events, quality indicators and core measures.
• Maintains documentation, which is in compliance with regulatory guidelines and/or accrediting bodies.
• Maintains confidentiality of all medical and department records.
• Must be able to ensure all matters related to patient information are kept secured, meeting confidentiality compliance standards set by TJC and HIPAA.
• Creates a relationship-based patient experience for patients and clinical team. Improves the patient care experience.
• Coordinates patient communication and follows-up on a regular basis. Documents all patient contact in EPIC.
• Returns phone, email and MyChart inquiries within 24-48 hours or as specified by leadership team, keeping physician(s) and team informed about progress.
• The incumbent must be able to serve a variety of patients simultaneously, taking into account the unique needs of each.

Education:
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Appropriate education to obtain and maintain Registered Nursing licensure in the state of Nevada.
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year RN experience preferred. Cardiac or critical care experience is preferred.
License(s):
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.
Certification(s):
BLS from AHA approved program required. ACLS from AHA approved program required for cost center 530410 and 530415. ONS OCN required within three years for cost center 530382 only.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Power Point, Excel and Word.
