Job description

$10,000 Hiring Incentive.

The Clinical Social Worker I will provide services to children and families in the Early Childhood Development and Education Center (EDEC). The incumbent will provide clinical services, programmatic support, and improve families’ access to multi-disciplinary specialists and other community resources as needed.

Qualified and Experienced LMSW's may be considered.


  1. Complete assessment of the needs of children and their family that have been accepted into the program as needed and appropriate.
  2. Provide psychosocial interventions targeted to specific challenges that influence the ability of families to engage and/or care for their children.
  3. Enhance caregiver/child relationship through Circle of Security model.
  4. Provide classroom consultations regarding children with challenging behaviors, separation anxiety, family engagement, trauma play, and sensory integration.
  5. Complete timely and appropriate documentation in a manner consistent with Institute and departmental expectations as well as guidelines established by The Joint Commission, Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
  6. Use weekly supervision and training activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality care based upon the needs of the clients and families served in the assigned program.
  7. Complete discharge paperwork as needed.

  • Must possess and maintain licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Board of Social Work Examiners.
  • Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree from an accredited school of Social Work required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years of clinical social work experience required, to include at least one year in the provision of services to children (i.e., pediatric population) and families negatively impacted by social determinants of health (such as those with developmental disabilities). This experience may have been gained while a trainee at the Institute or a related facility.
  • Developmental and mental health experience with young children (3-5 years of age) preferred.
