Job description

Job Summary:
Nscale is a GPU cloud provider engineered for AI, offering high-performance infrastructure for AI-focused companies. They are seeking a Principal Network Engineer to design, deploy, and operate networking services for both internal management platforms and customer-facing cloud infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Designing, deploying and operating high-speed Ethernet-based networks
• Working with deployment teams to ensure BOMs are correct and fit for purpose
• Providing input into DC layout and Rack elevations, to ensure our Reference Architectures are implemented correctly
• Automating the deployment and initial standup of multiple vendors' hardware
• Automating the day-to-day operations of multiple vendors' hardware
• Designing, implementing and supporting our WAN infrastructure
• On call rotation
Qualifications:
Required:
• Proven experience in designing, deploying, and operating high-speed Ethernet networks, including technologies such as VLAN, LACP, MLAG, BGP, OSPF, EVPN, and VXLAN.
• Strong knowledge of WAN technologies, including MPLS, BGP, IPSec, GRE, SD-WAN, and associated routing protocols.
• Knowledge of HPC networking topologies, such as Fat Tree and Rail.
• Strong proficiency in Python or Bash scripting.
• Strong Optics and hardware knowledge to assist with BOM design.
• 8–10+ years of experience in a networking and infrastructure role.
• Experience delivering large-scale WAN, telecom, or data center programs (e.g., BGP, routing, capacity planning, fibre, peering).
• Background working with cross-functional technical teams.
• Ability to work effectively with network engineers and external vendors.
• Execution excellence with proven ability to deliver complex projects.
• Strong planning, risk management, and dependency tracking skills.
• Vendor management experience working with carriers, ISPs, or infrastructure vendors.
• Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
