Position Summary

The Bartender maintains clean working bars in accordance with OVG, Illinois Liquor Commission, and Health Department standards. Prepare beverages and provide beverage service in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, resulting in a superior guest experience. Maintain compliance with the SAVOR SAFE Alcohol Management Program.

The rate of pay for this position is $30.87 and is tip eligible (per CBA).

Benefits as per the union agreement.

About the Venue

McCormick Place Convention Center located in downtown Chicago, is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America. With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world's largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.

Responsibilities
  • Required to carry alcohol certification card at all times when working, i.e., BASSET, TIPS, ACT.
  • Mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes and practices prudent portion control. Adheres to guidelines for alcohol pours; "no free-pouring/over-pouring" allowed.
  • Keeps the bar area at a high level of sanitation and hygiene at all times and maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure the security and accuracy of assigned bank and accountability for any and all overages and shortages as defined in the SAVOR Cash Handling/Cash Variance Policy and cash deposits for related bar sales.
  • Monitors proper par levels of all supplies at assigned bars.
  • Generates consumption report for billing and inventory tracking.
  • Responsible for security of liquor inventory at all times.
  • All hard liquor bottles are required to be combined with the same type of liquor at the end of the night when restocking in the warehouse.
  • All products are required to be placed back into boxes for the bar porter to pick up. If no boxes are there, leave in lexon and stack the product neatly.
  • Adhere to the SAVOR Bartender Inventory Policy.
  • Provide friendly, quick, professional service to guests and co-workers.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Must have a High School Diploma/GED.
  • One (1) year certificate from college or technical school; or three (3) to six (6) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. B.A.S.S.E.T, TIPS, or ACT required.
  • Must have sufficient math ability to accurately add, subtract, divide, multiply, and perform other basic business math calculations and pass a basic math skills test.
  • Understand written and oral direction and communicate effectively with others.
  • Must possess good organizational skills.
  • Must have ability to follow directions and effectively perform the work.
  • Ability to work closely with others.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment; have a sense of urgency.
  • Must have a pleasant personality and adhere to uniform standards policy.
  • Must have basic working knowledge of alcoholic beverages; previous bar/bartending experience required.
