Senior FP&A Analyst
Job Description
The Senior FP&A Analyst plays a key role in driving financial insight and operational excellence by leading variance analysis, supporting monthly close, building and maintaining complex financial models, and managing variable compensation plans. This position partners closely with Finance, Accounting, HR, and Payroll to deliver accurate reporting, support budgeting and forecasting processes, and provide board-level analytics that inform strategic decision-making in a growing organization.
Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed monthly variance analysis and clearly explain differences between actual and budgeted financial results.
  • Support monthly closing processes in close collaboration with the Accounting team to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Calculate and administer complex variable compensation plans, including commission and bonus accruals, ensuring accuracy, alignment with performance metrics, and timely incentive payouts.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans, providing functional support on revenue, expense, and headcount planning to budget owners.
  • Drive the development, enhancement, and ongoing maintenance of a comprehensive three-statement financial model.
  • Support internal and external reporting needs, including board-level and ownership reporting, on both a recurring and ad hoc basis.
  • Partner with Finance, HR, and Payroll to maintain accurate and consistent headcount and allocation data across regions and departments.
  • Collaborate extensively with other members of the Finance team to ensure seamless and consistent data rules and definitions across the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement enhancements that increase reporting efficiency and data quality.
  • Create clear, concise, and visually compelling reports and presentations for Senior leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Work independently as a forecaster and modeler, delivering high-quality analysis and recommendations with minimal supervision.

Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of quantitative or highly analytical work experience, ideally in financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
  • Strong experience in financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning and analysis.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain complex financial models, including three-statement models, with detailed supporting documentation.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including advanced modeling and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience performing variance analysis and explaining drivers of performance against budget and forecast.
  • Experience creating board-level reporting and executive-ready financial presentations.
  • Ability to calculate and manage complex variable compensation structures, including commissions, bonuses, SPIFFs, and other incentive programs.
  • Experience working with recurring-revenue, subscription, or services-based business models.
  • Exposure to ERP systems, enterprise performance management (EPM) or planning applications, and incentive-compensation platforms.
  • Experience with technologies such as NetSuite, Varicent, Microsoft CRM, and Planful is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding communication, reporting, and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Ability to work independently as an analytical forecaster and modeler, while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy in all aspects of financial analysis and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • BA or BS degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in a technology, services, or private equity-backed environment is a plus.
  • Strong preference for experience in similar industry environments to leverage relevant business model knowledge.
  • Experience using enterprise performance management (EPM) and planning tools, particularly Planful.
  • Proactive, self-sufficient, and detail-oriented work style with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to establish rapport and work efficiently and effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and enhance reporting efficiencies.
  • Comfort working in a growing organization with both interim and potential full-time opportunities.

Work Environment
This role is primarily onsite, with an expectation of working on-site 4 days per week and a preference for 5 days per week during the initial period. Onboarding typically spans 1-2 months, providing time to become familiar with financial systems, models, and reporting processes. The position sits within the FP&A function and collaborates closely with Finance, Accounting, HR, and Payroll, using tools such as ERP systems, EPM/planning applications, and incentive-compensation platforms including NetSuite, Varicent, Microsoft CRM, and Planful. The environment is fast-paced and growth-oriented, offering the opportunity to contribute to both interim and long-term initiatives while working alongside a team focused on accuracy, consistency, and continuous improvement in financial reporting and analysis.
