Job description

Introduction to the Job
As a Field Service Engineer, you play a direct role in keeping advanced semiconductor systems running at peak performance. Your work enables the production of microchips that power everyday technologies.
At ASML, you will support customers by installing, maintaining, and improving complex equipment on-site. You will help transfer knowledge and build strong partnerships with customers while contributing to continuous innovation.
In this Field Service Engineer role, you will work independently while collaborating with teams to deliver reliable results and improve system performance.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Field Service Engineer, you manage maintenance and troubleshooting activities while working closely with customers and internal experts. You take ownership of issues and help drive timely, effective solutions.
  • Analyze equipment issues by gathering and interpreting diagnostic data.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on advanced systems.
  • Plan service activities, including tools, parts, and customer scheduling.
  • Collaborate with customers to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Document service activities and ensure clear handoff to support teams.
  • Train customer staff on system use, maintenance, and best practices.
  • Share knowledge and support the development of less experienced engineers.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the semiconductor or high-tech equipment industry.
  • Experience with data analysis tools and standard business software (spreadsheets, presentations, documentation tools).
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems, diagnostics, and maintenance processes.

Skills
Working at the cutting edge of tech, you'll always have new challenges and new problems to solve - and working together is the only way to do that. You won't work in a silo. Instead, you'll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you'll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You'll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.
To thrive in this job, you'll need the following skills:
  • Diagnose and solve complex technical problems independently.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and technical challenges.
  • Apply analytical thinking to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail in documentation and execution.
  • Show initiative in learning new technologies and processes.
  • Support and mentor team members when needed.

Other information
  • This position is located on-site in Eagan MN and requires onsite presence.
  • Position requires up to 25% travel both domestic and international
  • Routinely required to sit; walk; talk; hear; use hands to keyboard, finger, handle and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach and stretch
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally required to move around the campus and must be willing to work in a clean room environment for the entire duration of the shift, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights or weekends when needed.

You must be work authorized in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
