Senior Sales Representative โ€” Division 8 (DFH)

Tacoma, WA, US

Compensation: $80,000 โ€“ $110,000 Draw (Year 1) + Uncapped Commission


Position Overview

The Sales Representative plays a strategic, client-facing role responsible for driving business growth and managing key accounts within the commercial door, frame, and hardware industry. This position is a hybrid of outside sales and estimating, requiring both relationship development and technical project involvement.

This individual will be actively engaged from early project pursuit through bid and award, supporting both business development efforts and hands-on estimating responsibilities. Ideal candidates are comfortable operating in both capacities and thrive in a fast-paced, construction-driven environment.


Key ResponsibilitiesOutside Sales & Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with general contractors, construction managers, architects, and developers throughout the Tacoma / Puget Sound region
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers
  • Represent the company at client meetings, bid walks, preconstruction meetings, and industry events
  • Develop and execute a territory sales strategy aligned with company growth goals
  • Drive project opportunities from initial contact through bid and award

Estimating & Technical Involvement
  • Perform take-offs and assist with estimating for Division 8 (doors, frames, and hardware) projects
  • Work both independently and alongside internal estimating resources depending on project size and complexity
  • Interpret plans and specifications to identify scope, risks, and opportunities
  • Assist in developing bid strategy, vendor pricing, and proposal preparation
  • Provide input on value engineering and product selection

Client & Project Support
  • Partner with Project Management and Procurement teams to ensure smooth transition of awarded work
  • Serve as a technical and relationship resource throughout the project lifecycle
  • Maintain visibility into project pipelines, customer needs, and regional construction trends

Compensation Structure
  • Year 1: Guaranteed draw/salary ($80Kโ€“$110K range)
  • Commission: Paid on top of draw when earnings exceed base
  • Year 2+: Transition to draw + commission structure
  • Strong earning potential tied directly to performance and revenue generation

Required Qualifications
  • 5โ€“10+ years of experience in the commercial door, frame, and hardware (Division 8) industry
  • Background in outside sales, estimating, or a hybrid role
  • Strong knowledge of Division 8 manufacturers (e.g., Allegion, ASSA ABLOY, dormakaba)
  • Proven ability to build relationships and win projects
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of ADA, NFPA, ANSI/BHMA, UL, and related codes
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications
  • DHI certifications (AHC, CDC, EHC)
  • Experience with estimating platforms such as Pro-Tech or similar
  • Exposure to access control and electrified hardware
  • Familiarity with Washington State building codes
