Position Summary...Role summary:
The (USA) Director, Data Architecture leads the design and implementation of comprehensive data solutions that support business objectives and operational efficiency. This role oversees data governance and strategy to ensure data quality, security, and accessibility across multiple platforms. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, the director drives innovation in data harmonization while guiding and mentoring associates. By aligning data initiatives with organizational goals, this position enhances decision-making capabilities and promotes scalable, reliable data ecosystems that deliver measurable business value.
About the team:
The team establishes and maintains a unified workforce language to support data governance and stewardship, delivering global workforce metrics, KPIs, and SLAs. They focus on data first principles to ensure reliable and fit-for-purpose data. Collaborating across business domains, the team drives data governance practices and aligns data initiatives with organizational objectives. They provide guidance on data sourcing, integration, and quality management while fostering continuous improvement and adherence to regulatory standards. This team plays a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making and advancing Walmart’s data capabilities globally.   • Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data governance, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technology standards.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries and data governance frameworks to support data quality and accessibility.
  • Oversee data source identification, validation, and quality assessment to ensure data fitness for purpose.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions and strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data management practices and system performance.


What you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling across relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Proven expertise in data governance, data quality management, and regulatory compliance within enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud data platforms such as Redshift, Azure, BigQuery, and Snowflake, and big data technologies like Hadoop and Kafka.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable data strategies and architectural solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams on data integration, metadata management, and data ecosystem design.
  • Proficiency in project management and business process alignment to drive data initiatives.
