Commission Cold Caller information

What is a commission cold caller?

Commission cold callers are sales professionals who contact potential customers by phone, typically without any prior relationship, to sell products or services. They earn their income primarily through commissions based on the sales they generate, rather than a fixed salary. This role requires strong communication skills, resilience, and the ability to handle rejection. Commission cold callers often work in industries such as real estate, insurance, and telemarketing, where direct outreach is crucial for generating leads and closing sales.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a commission cold caller, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Commission Cold Caller, you need excellent verbal communication skills, persuasive selling abilities, and a basic understanding of sales principles, often supported by prior sales experience or training. Familiarity with customer relationship management (CRM) software, autodialers, and call tracking systems is typically necessary. Resilience, adaptability, and strong listening skills help you handle rejection and customize your approach to diverse prospects. These skills are crucial for consistently generating leads, closing sales, and achieving commission-based targets in a competitive environment.

What are some common challenges faced by commission cold callers, and how can they be overcome?

Commission Cold Callers often face challenges such as handling frequent rejection, maintaining motivation, and managing the pressure to meet sales targets. To overcome these challenges, it's important to develop resilience, refine communication techniques, and set achievable daily goals. Many successful cold callers also benefit from ongoing training and feedback, as well as collaborating with teammates to share strategies and boost morale. Adapting to feedback and continuously improving your pitch can make the role more rewarding and lead to higher commission earnings.

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
As a Sales Development Representative (Cold Caller) for our State Farm agency, you are the engine behind our growth — and this is your first step toward a sales career. You will spend your day on outbound calls, turning cold leads into booked quotes for our producers. No experience and no license required to start: if you are self-driven, competitive, and unafraid of the phone, we will teach you the rest. Prove yourself here and you earn a real path — we pay for your licensing and promote you into a full producer role with uncapped commission. This is a phone job and a launchpad, not a desk job. In-office, Las Vegas, Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Make a high volume of outbound cold calls to prospects from leads we provide.
  • Qualify prospects by asking sharp questions and gathering the info producers need.
  • Set qualified quote appointments and hand them off to producers to close.
  • Follow up relentlessly on marketing, campaign, and referral leads.
  • Log every call and prospect in our CRM and hit daily activity targets.
  • Learn our products, our scripts, and how insurance actually gets sold.
  • Represent our agency with professionalism and follow State Farm compliance standards on every call.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Self-motivated and coachable — you keep dialing and you take feedback.
  • Thick-skinned — you handle rejection all day and pick the phone back up.
  • Competitive, with a clear, confident phone voice and professional manner.
  • Organized enough to track and follow up on a full list of prospects.
  • Reliable and punctual — you show up and put in the reps every day.
  • Ambition to get licensed and move into a producer role — no experience necessary.
  • Focused on hitting targets and driving our agency's growth.
