Job description

Job Summary
Our client is seeking a Coding Supervisor to oversee coding operations for inpatients, hospital outpatients, and ambulatory visits. The role includes supervision, quality assurance, and management of the coding department, ensuring adherence to coding conventions, productivity, compliance, and reimbursement policies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise the coding staff and processes, ensuring correct coding conventions.
  • Oversee staff in abstracting diagnoses and procedures and performing quality assurance.
  • Monitor productivity, workflows, and timeliness of coding activities.
  • Facilitate staffing, work distribution, and technology information.
  • Review reimbursement trends and assist in educating physicians and revenue cycle staff.
  • Train and supervise staff, ensuring staffing levels and budget compliance.
  • Contribute to staffing decisions, including hiring and counseling employees.
  • Develop policies and procedures for a safe work environment.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities and support department operational goals.

Qualifications
  • Six years of experience in applicable coding operations
  • Experience with Ortho, Urology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Urogynecology, and Surgical specialties.
  • An Associate's degree or two additional years of certified coding experience.
  • Must have RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CPC certification.
  • Auditing experience.
  • Experience with Epic EMR.
  • Previous Team Lead/Leadership experience preferred.

Experience
  • Six years of experience in coding operations with specific specialties.

Skills
  • Technical skills: Experience with Epic EMR.
  • Soft skills: Strong leadership and communication abilities.

Education
  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience in the field.
  • Relevant certifications: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC.

Additional Requirements
  • Standard M-F schedule with onsite requirements (hybrid role).
