Job description

Description

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid; travel required to visit potential clients in Arizona and Oregon)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Salaried
Reports To: Company Owner

About Too Sweet Cakes

Too Sweet Cakes is entering a phase of strategic growth. We are shifting from operational stabilization toward revenue expansion, with a focus on restaurant distribution, wholesale partnerships, and high-impact accounts. This role is designed to create measurable revenue growth while protecting operational margins.

Role Overview

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for generating, securing, and growing self-generated accountsโ€”accounts proactively identified and pursued by the salesperson that materially contribute to Too Sweet Cakes' revenue and strategic growth. Success in this role requires a strategic approach to prospecting, selling scalable product offerings, and managing relationships that meet defined impact criteria.

This position is hybrid, based in Phoenix, AZ, and requires the ability to travel within Arizona and Oregon to develop client relationships and manage accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management & Revenue Generation

  • Identify, target, and secure self-generated impact accounts in restaurants, wholesale, and distribution channels
  • Focus on accounts that meet impact criteria, including revenue threshold, repeatable ordering, production compatibility, margin requirements, and brand alignment
  • Develop long-term relationships to maximize account retention and predictable reorders
  • Forecast sales accurately to support operational planning

Strategic Selling

  • Align prospecting with company goals and growth strategy
  • Present Too Sweet's scalable product offerings to potential partners
  • Ensure accounts do not increase operational complexity while maximizing revenue and margin

Performance & Metrics

  • Maintain strong monthly revenue contribution from impact accounts
  • Work toward annual sales revenue goals aligned with a tiered commission structure
  • Monitor margin quality, account stability, and reorder consistency

Client Ownership & Retention

All client accounts developed in this roleโ€”including self-generated accountsโ€”are considered assets of Too Sweet Cakes. While the Business Development Manager is responsible for originating and growing these relationships, all accounts, contracts, and associated revenue remain the property of the company.

Commission is earned based on revenue generated during active employment. In the event of separation from Too Sweet Cakes, accounts will be retained and reassigned by the company, and ongoing commission is not guaranteed beyond employment.

This role requires maintaining accurate account records, forecasting data, and relationship documentation to ensure continuity. The Business Development Manager is expected to support a smooth transition of accounts if needed to protect client relationships and ongoing revenue.

Self-Generated Impact Account Criteria

Qualifying Accounts Must Meet Most of the Following:

  • Minimum revenue threshold (e.g., $3,200/month per location or $166,000/year)
  • Repeatable orders (not seasonal or sporadic)
  • Fits existing production model (minimal customization)
  • Meets target margin requirements
  • Improves brand positioning or market reach
  • Does not materially increase operational complexity

Examples of Impact Accounts: Regional coffee chains, multi-location retail partners, hospitality groups, grocery or distribution partners

Non-Impact Accounts: Small single-location cafรฉs, highly customized boutique orders, inconsistent or seasonal accounts

Requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management
  • Experience managing self-generated or strategic accounts preferred
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and forecasting skills
  • Ability to identify accounts aligned with strategic growth goals and production capacity
  • Experience in the food, restaurant, or wholesale distribution industry is a plus
  • Results-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a growth-focused environment
  • Ability to travel regularly within Arizona and Oregon

Benefits

Compensation & Commission

This full-time role offers a base salary of $75,000 annually, plus performance-based commission on self-generated account revenue. Commission scales with results, rewarding growth as revenue targets are achievedโ€”details of the tiered structure will be shared during the interview process.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • High Earning Potential: Competitive base salary plus a commission structure directly tied to your results
  • Autonomy & Impact: Own your pipeline and directly influence company growth
  • Career Growth: Gain experience in scaling wholesale distribution and managing strategic accounts
  • Hybrid Flexibility: Balance remote work with in-market relationship building
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical and dental premiums covered for you
  • Growth-Stage Opportunity: Play a key role in expanding Too Sweet Cakes into new markets and high-impact partnerships
