Job description

Overview
As our Digital Asset Assurance practice continues to grow in both complexity and sophistication, Wolf is seeking Director of Blockchain Assurance Technology to join our growing and well-established national firm. This individual will play a key role in shaping and executing the technical direction of our audit strategy in the digital asset space.
You'll work closely with assurance professionals, blockchain subject matter experts, and external software providers and engineers to ensure we continue delivering high-quality, scalable, and technically sound assurance solutions across a diverse range of blockchain protocols and platforms.
This is a unique opportunity to join a firm at the forefront of blockchain audit innovation-and to help define how assurance evolves in a rapidly transforming industry.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the technical infrastructure of our blockchain assurance practice, collaborating closely with engagement teams and assurance leadership
  • Translate complex blockchain data and infrastructure concepts into audit-relevant testing strategies (e.g., token existence and ownership, smart contract behavior, validator activity, key custody)
  • Bridge the gap between tokenomics and financial reporting, helping teams understand how the underlying economics of token utilities, vesting, governance, and distributions may impact revenue recognition, liability classification, or asset measurement
  • Manage relationships with third-party blockchain data and tooling providers, including software evaluation, sourcing, onboarding, and ongoing communication
  • Serve as the technical liaison between internal engineers/blockchain specialists and assurance professionals-ensuring technical procedures are audit-ready and support key assertions
  • Support the development of assurance tools and templates for less widely adopted blockchains and protocols, including proof-of-reserve, validator verification, and wallet ownership validation
  • Guide and support assurance testing on-chain using block explorers, APIs, and data analytics tools.
  • Contribute to internal training and memo documentation, strengthening the firm's digital asset assurance capabilities across all levels
  • Assist in developing and maintaining guidance related to emerging technical risk areas, including cryptographic signatures, DeFi transactions, token bridges, smart contract dependencies, and off-chain custody structures
  • Manage the technical aspects of assurance logistics, including scoping, tooling, drafting procedural memos, and collaboration across internal and external technical resources

Qualifications
  • 8-10 years of relevant experience, ideally in blockchain/crypto, assurance, or risk with an understanding of blockchain data
  • Deep understanding of blockchain fundamentals, including consensus mechanisms, smart contracts, wallet structures, and token standards
  • Experience working with blockchain data and tools (e.g., block explorers, APIs, third-party analytics platforms).
  • Familiarity with key audit assertions and ability to assist with procedures that support existence, completeness, and ownership testing
  • Strong communication skills; able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audit teams and vice versa
  • Experience in SQL or similar query languages; basic coding experience in Python or Solidity is a plus
  • Prior experience with client service, technical vendor management, or internal audit tooling is a plus
  • CPA not required if the candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of audit and accounting frameworks
