Commercial Solar Project Manager Jobs (NOW HIRING)

About the Role:

We are seeking experienced Project Managers to manage the full lifecycle of commercial solar EPC projects from preconstruction through final closeout. This role includes overseeing field execution, coordinating construction teams, and supporting preconstruction activities to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and overall project readiness.

The Project Manager is responsible for driving safe, high-quality, and efficient project delivery while maintaining control of cost, schedule, and day-to-day operations across all assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Preconstruction Oversight

·       Review project drawings, specifications, and schedules for constructability and site planning.

·       Collaborate with estimating to validate scope, phasing, and manpower projections.

·       Participate in subcontractor scope reviews and pre-award meetings.

·       Assist in developing construction schedules, procurement timelines, and risk assessments.

·       Lead internal hand-off meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to field-execution.

Construction Execution

·       Manage field execution including mobilization, construction, inspections, and closeout.

·       Develop and manage project schedules, manpower plans, and lookaheads.

·       Coordinate across civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical scopes to drive efficient installation.

·       Conduct site visits and lead weekly construction meetings with internal teams and subcontractors.

Cost & Contract Management

·       Manage project budgets and cost controls throughout construction.

·       Review and approve pay applications, manage change orders, and track committed vs. actual costs.

·       Enforce scope compliance and verify subcontractor alignment with contract documents.

·       Provide budget forecasts and variance reports to senior leadership.

Field & Team Coordination

·       Supervise project field personnel on assigned sites.

·       Coordinate with Procurement and Warehouse to ensure timely delivery of materials, tools, and equipment.

·       Manage subcontractors and maintain accountability for performance, schedule, and safety.

·       Serve as the primary point-of-contact for resolution of issues, RFI escalations, and decision-making.

Compliance & Closeout

·       Ensure compliance with contract terms, OSHA, NEC, local codes, and internal safety procedures.

·       Maintain field documentation including daily logs, inspection records, and quality control reports.

·       Manage final inspections, punch list completion, and as-built documentation. 

·       Coordinate handoff packages and ensure timely project closeout and turnover.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

·       4+ years of construction management experience; solar EPC preferred.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent field experience.

·       Proficient in reading and interpreting construction plans, sequencing, and field logistics.

·       OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain).

·       Experience managing solar projects from preconstruction through final punch and turnover.

·       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

·       Excellent time management and organizational skills.

·       Knowledge of Procore, Microsoft Project, and Office 365.

·       Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.

·       Successfully lead and manage complex portfolios.

·       Ability to read, understand and interpret contract and insurance documents and forms, and make appropriate recommendations.

·       Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.

·       Comfortable leading large field teams and navigating fast-paced construction environments.

Work Location:

57 Goffle Rd., Hawthorne, NJ.  Remote/hybrid flexibility but must live within the region and be able to travel to the office as needed.
