Job description

Project Manager

Our client is a well-established mid-sized commercial electrical contractor based in Milford, CT, serving commercial, industrial, and municipal clients. Their expanding commercial solar division is seeking an experienced Project Manager.

The Project Manager will oversee large-scale commercial and municipal solar projects from contract execution through final completion. This role is responsible for managing schedule, budget, subcontractors, procurement, utility coordination, inspections, and client communication. The ideal candidate has experience managing complex electrical or renewable energy projects and is comfortable operating in a fast-paced construction environment with multiple stakeholders including utilities, municipalities, engineers, and subcontractors.

Schedule & Work Environment:

  • Monday through Friday
  • 60% office-based, 40% on job sites across CT
  • Must be comfortable managing multiple job sites

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple commercial and municipal solar projects (rooftop, ground mount, carport, and portfolio-based projects) across the state of Connecticut
  • Lead project kickoff meetings and establish clear execution plans
  • Develop and maintain project schedules (critical path, long lead items, utility coordination timelines)
  • Manage procurement of major equipment including modules, inverters, switchgear, transformers, and balance of system materials
  • Coordinate with utilities for interconnection, witness testing, and approvals
  • Track project budgets and monitor costs to ensure margin targets are maintained
  • Review and manage subcontracts and vendor agreements
  • Submit and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation
  • Coordinate with engineering and field teams to ensure design intent is executed correctly
  • Oversee permitting and inspection processes
  • Manage project billing milestones and support O&M transition at project completion
  • Maintain organized project documentation and reporting
  • Identify and mitigate risks early in the project lifecycle

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of project management experience in commercial construction, electrical construction, or utility-scale solar
  • Strong understanding of NEC and electrical construction practices
  • Experience managing projects exceeding 500 kW preferred
  • Experience with municipal contracts and public bid work preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and electrical schematics
  • Strong budgeting and cost control experience
  • Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred
