At IPG Photonics, the Commercial Product Manager (CPM) is a leader responsible for cross-functional collaboration between PLMs, Sales&Marketing, Applications and effective communication with customers, driving the commercial part of product development and managing market product strategies throughout the whole product life cycle. This key global role ensures the positive customer perception, which combined with technical excellence, leads to success of a diverse portfolio of Green/UV/DUV, CW/ns/ps/fs lasers enabling for IPG fast growth in micromachining and semiconductor applications.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Business Alignment
  • Ensure market product strategies align with IPG's overarching business goals.
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to guide product development toward growth and profitability.
  • Establish contacts and coordinate collaboration of IPG's business development teams PLMs and Applications teams with research institutes and market research organizations to identify and develop new applications with potential for business growth.
  1. Product & Market Strategy
  • Co-develop comprehensive product roadmaps with PLMs for micromachining, semiconductor and other applications.
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as the central figure coordinating efforts across PLMs, applications, marketing, sales, and customer support to develop cohesive market product strategies.
  • Lead collaborative initiatives to ensure successful product launches and market penetration.
  1. Market Responsiveness
  • Adapt quickly to changing market conditions by leveraging customer feedback and competitive analysis.
  • Anticipate future trends to maintain IPG's competitive edge.
  1. Lifecycle Management
  • Manage market product strategies in all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept to development, launch, and phase-out.
  1. Data-Driven Decision Making
  • Use data insights to make proposals on product market positioning and strategic pivots.
  • Leverage metrics such as sales data, market share, and customer satisfaction to identify growth opportunities.
  1. IPG Evangelist for Voice of Customer (VoC)
  • Lead VoC initiatives by systematically collecting, analyzing, and communicating customer feedback to inform product development and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure customer needs are reflected in product strategies and solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and Execute Product Plans
  • Support PLMs in creation detailed product line strategies and timelines aligned with IPG's business goals.
  • Collaborate with market research teams to gather insights into customer needs and identify opportunities for new products or enhancements.

Manage Product Marketing and Sales
  • Co-develop and implement impactful product launch strategies tailored to target markets.
  • Partner with marketing and sales teams to design campaigns, pricing strategies, and sales initiatives.
  • Foster direct customer engagement to collect feedback and drive continuous product improvement.

Collaborate with PLMs
  • Work closely with PLMs to align product strategies with execution plans.

Measure and Analyze Product Market Position
  • Define success metrics to guide marketing efforts.
  • Assess product market position throughout the lifecycle using KPIs such as sales, market share, and customer satisfaction.
  • Analyze performance data to ensure products remain competitive and profitable.
