What does a commercial lending assistant do?

A commercial lending assistant works with business accounts to assist them with loans they need for business purposes. Your duties as a commercial lending assistant are to suggest loans that fit each client’s needs, review loan applications and other documents, and process loans for business clients. You then prepare closing packages and documents for the responsible person accepting the loan. Your responsibilities may also include processing payments, contacting clients to collect overdue payments, and offering customer service assistance over the phone, through email, or in person. To thrive as a Commercial Lending Assistant, you need a solid understanding of financial documentation, loan processing, and basic banking principles, typically supported by experience in banking or finance. Familiarity with loan origination systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and sometimes commercial lending software is common in this role. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication help you excel when managing client information and supporting loan officers. These skills ensure accurate loan processing, compliance with regulations, and smooth client interactions, all crucial for supporting business lending operations.

What are some typical challenges faced by commercial lending assistants when supporting multiple loan officers?
