Commercial Electrical Service Technician Key Responsibilities

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial electrical systems and equipment

Install, maintain, and service electrical panels, lighting systems, wiring, breakers, outlets, and controls

Respond promptly to service calls, provide accurate quotes, and deliver effective, long-term solutions

Perform preventative maintenance to ensure electrical system reliability, performance, and safety

Utilize company apps and client software for real-time reporting, inventory management, and job tracking

Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documents

Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working condition

Uphold all safety standards and be available for on-call or after-hours work (compensated at premium rates)

Commercial Electrical Service Technician Qualifications

2+ years of commercial electrical service experience

Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, troubleshooting, and repairs

Proven ability to work independently with strong time management skills

Excellent communication and customer service abilities

Proficient with mobile technology and able to learn client-specific software and job management systems

Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass background and drug screening

Physically capable of lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in various indoor and outdoor environments

Preferred

Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent experience

Experience with quoting service and client communication

Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS/BAS)

OSHA certifications or other electrical safety training
