Job description

We are hiring a hands-on Project Engineer to support large commercial electrical projects across healthcare, hospital, university, and institutional environments.
We are specifically looking for someone with direct experience working for an electrical contractor who understands the connection between project documentation, material procurement, field coordination, scheduling, and electrical installation.
This is not a desk-only administrative role. You will work closely with Project Managers, Foremen, electricians, vendors, BIM/VDC teams, and general contractors throughout the project lifecycle. The position offers a defined path toward an Electrical Project Manager role.
Responsibilities
  • Support commercial electrical projects from preconstruction and project setup through closeout
  • Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement items, project logs, and closeout documentation
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Foremen, electricians, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors
  • Review electrical drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and construction documents
  • Track project schedules, equipment orders, material deliveries, field progress, and outstanding action items
  • Assist estimating and preconstruction teams with takeoffs, scope reviews, turnover, and project setup
  • Work with BIM/VDC teams to identify coordination conflicts and support field-ready installation plans
  • Participate in project meetings, jobsite visits, and day-to-day field coordination

Requirements
  • 2-5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar electrical construction professional
  • Direct experience working for a commercial electrical contractor required
  • Familiarity with RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and construction documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and project documents
  • Strong organizational, communication, follow-up, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable working directly with Project Managers, Foremen, electricians, vendors, and field personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Genuine interest in developing into an Electrical Project Manager

Benefits
  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health insurance and benefits package
  • Retirement plan options
  • Paid time off
  • Defined advancement path toward Project Management
  • Opportunity to support large-scale commercial electrical projects

This opportunity is ideal for an electrical construction professional who wants meaningful field exposure, direct project responsibility, and a long-term path into Project Management.
