Job description

Job Summary:  

The SBA Loan Officer (SBALO) is primarily responsible for acquiring new profitable SBA 504 lending relationships through proactive business development, referral partner cultivation, and strategic networking. The SBALO develops new business opportunities by building relationships with CDCs, commercial real estate brokers, CPAs, attorneys, business brokers, financial advisors, and other centers of influence.

The SBA Loan Officer serves as a trusted financial advisor to business owners by structuring SBA 504 financing solutions while identifying opportunities to establish full commercial banking relationships. In addition to SBA lending, the SBALO is responsible for cross-selling operating deposit accounts, Treasury Management services, and other Bank products to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Essential Functions:

  1. Meets and exceeds monthly performance-based scorecard goals that include but are not limited to loan and deposit production.
  2. Responsible for sourcing, developing, structuring, and closing new SBA 504 loan opportunities through proactive business development and referral partner relationships.
  3. Develop and maintain strategic referral relationships with CDCs, loan brokers, CPAs, attorneys, business brokers, financial advisors, and industry association.
  4. Develop and execute an annual business development plan to generate new SBA loan opportunities through direct prospecting, referral partners, networking events, educational seminars, and community involvement.
  5. Promote and secure full banking relationships by cross-selling operating deposit accounts, Treasury Management services, online banking, ACH, wires, Positive Pay, Remote Deposit, and other Bank products.
  6. Reviews, processes, and prepares documentation for loans; ensures that it is complete, legal, and in compliance with regulatory and bank policy.
  7. Assists in obtaining financial statements, tax returns, and other credit information for timely new loan assessment and underwriting.
  8. Performs other duties and special projects as needed and assigned.
  • Demonstrated success originating SBA 504 loans.
  • Establish network of CDCs, loan brokers, CPAs, business brokers, and referral partners.
  • Proven track record in business development.
  • Strong understanding of SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Experience structuring owner-occupied commercial real estate financing.
  • Ability to identify and cross-sell commercial banking products and treasury management services.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Must present a professional image, be a team player, self-starter, flexible, be able to multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines.
