Comedy Scriptwriter -Remote

Job description

About LumiMeds
LumiMeds is a fast-growing U.S.-based telehealth startup focused on weight management and long-term metabolic health. We are building the next generation of e-commerce and clinical infrastructure from the ground up.
As an early-stage company, we move quickly, operate with limited layers, and expect high ownership from every team member. There is no bureaucracy here - decisions happen fast, priorities evolve, and builders thrive.
We are a remote-first, globally distributed team that values clarity, accountability, and people who take initiative rather than wait for direction.
About the role
LumiMeds is a fast-growing telehealth company in the compounded GLP-1 and metabolic health space. We're building a brand that actually connects with people, and we need a writer who knows how to make them laugh.
This is not a "write captions" role. You'll be the creative engine behind our short-form comedy content, writing scripts for TikTok and Instagram Reels that are sharp, on-brand, and genuinely funny. You'll work closely with our Social Media Manager and on-camera talent to develop concepts, punch up hooks, and turn wellness topics into content people actually want to watch.
The right person for this role understands the rhythm of short-form comedy. You know how to land a joke in 15 seconds, write for a specific voice, and make a GLP-1 medication brand feel human without crossing compliance lines.
What you'll do
  • Write scripts and concepts for short-form comedy content across TikTok and Instagram Reels
  • Develop recurring formats, characters, and comedic angles rooted in the wellness and weight loss space
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and Social Media Manager on content calendars, hooks, and creative direction
  • Write for specific on-camera talent, adapting to their voice, timing, and delivery style
  • Ideate and pitch new concepts weekly, kill what doesn't land, build on what does
  • Work within FDA and FTC compliance guidelines for healthcare content (we'll train you, but you have to be open to it)
  • Optionally appear on camera if you're comfortable, but not required
What you won't do
This role has clear scope boundaries, both to protect the brand and keep content compliant:
  • You will NOT write scripts that make efficacy claims, weight-loss promises, or outcome guarantees about LumiMeds products
  • You will NOT write testimonial-style content attributing personal results to medications
  • You will NOT write content that compares LumiMeds compounded medications to FDA-approved branded products in promotional terms

What we're looking for
Required
  • A portfolio of short-form comedy writing. Spec scripts, published content, personal account, anything that shows you can be funny in under 60 seconds
  • Strong understanding of TikTok and Reels formats, trends, and what makes content perform
  • Ability to write for someone else's voice, not just your own
  • Fast ideator. You can generate 10 concepts, know which 2 are worth pursuing, and move quickly
  • Comfortable working in a regulated space and willing to learn the guardrails

Strongly preferred
  • Experience writing for health, wellness, or lifestyle brands
  • Background in sketch, improv, or comedy writing in any format
  • Familiarity with what's trending in the GLP-1 or weight loss conversation online

Bonus
  • On-camera presence and willingness to appear in content
  • Experience writing for specific talent or creators
  • Spanish or Tagalog fluency

Logistics
  • Engagement type: Full-time employee
  • Location: Fully remote, U.S.-based
  • Start date: As soon as the right person is found
Why this role exists
Health content is saturated with the same serious, clinical tone. We think there's a better way to talk about GLP-1s, metabolic health, and the very real, very relatable experience of being on this kind of program. Comedy builds trust. A well-placed joke makes someone feel seen. We want a writer who gets that and can build it into everything we make.
This isn't a role for someone who treats compliance as a creativity killer. It's a role for someone who finds the funny within the guardrails and makes people stop scrolling because they actually had to laugh.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
We review applications on a rolling basis. Expect to hear back within 2 weeks if there's a fit.
How to Apply
If this role sounds like a fit, we'd love to hear from you. Please submit your application in English and ensure your resume reflects relevant experience for the role.
This position is open to candidates based in approved locations, depending on the role and business needs. Qualified applicants will be contacted for next steps.
LumiMeds is an equal opportunity employer. We hire based on skills, experience, and alignment with our values.
Please note: This role requires professional-level English communication and availability to work U.S. business hours.
