SUMMARY

The Color-Tint Technician II sits within the Gemini Technical Group, which is comprised of Laboratory, Color, and Quality Control departments.  This position is responsible for understanding color production processes, making lab scale color batches, testing these batches according to specific methods, accurately recording the results, and analyzing the results with lab management to determine the next steps in our pursuit of meeting or exceeding customer expectations. This position will have some independent responsibility in driving projects to completion and using the Gemini business and color software.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work under moderate supervision.
  • Accurately make and tint batches (paints and stains) to color specification
  • Have intermediate understanding of color matching in paints and/or stains.
  • Clean processing equipment, tanks, filters, pipes, lines, and pumps
  • Follow hazardous material handling and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
  • Carry out routine and semi-routine color lab tasks
  • Be familiar with:
    • Gemini’s different product technologies
    • How to apply different types of color products
    • Color computer software and how to adjust color of batches
  • Document all findings and communicate those findings to colleagues and supervisor
 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Ability to visually see color variances on different substrates and adjust color as needed.
  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to operate a forklift at times.
  • Character: Possess a good; work ethic, morale, and personal integrity and honesty.
  • Attitude: Be mature, flexible, positive, and self-motivated.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL

  • Stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions

Working conditions for this position are a combination of laboratory and plant environments. The employee may be exposed to dust, fumes, noise, and extreme temperatures at times.
