Job Summary
The lab instructor will coordinate with the full time faculty and department chair to facilitate hands on instruction with the students while working in the lab environment. Motivate students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process. Provide instructional support to the chair, dean, and students.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience to include classroom, lab, or industry experience
  • Computer literate
  • Communication skills with public speaking and strong organizational skills
  • Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License, good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College's insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • College and/or high school teaching experience

Essential Functions
  • Set up labs and materials for classroom and lab activities
  • Prepare and maintain labs, equipment, and materials to support instructional activities
  • Ensure a safe and organized lab environment in compliance with safety standards
  • Assist faculty with demonstrations and provide supervision during lab sessions
  • Guide and support students in developing hands-on skills
  • Monitor equipment, manage supplies, and report maintenance needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
  • Frequently moves equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Able to remain in a stationary position for approximately 50% of the time
  • Requires manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Regular use of a keyboard and computer workstation
  • Frequently communicates with others and must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Occasionally required to travel between the office, classroom, and other on/off-campus locations
  • Work performed in both office and classroom settings, with some duties outdoors
  • Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events as needed
