As a Collision Director, your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing the entire collision repair process, managing workflow, ensuring quality control, and handling customer and insurance communications. You’ll supervise technicians and administrative staff, monitor shop metrics, and resolve any workflow or customer issues that arise. Collaborating closely with service advisors, parts departments, and insurance adjusters is a regular part of the job. You will also be responsible for maintaining compliance with safety and industry standards, ensuring repairs are completed on time and to specification.
A Collision Director oversees the operations of an auto body repair facility, ensuring efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. They manage staff, coordinate repair processes, monitor financial performance, and maintain compliance with industry standards. Their role includes working with insurance companies, handling customer concerns, and implementing strategies to improve service and profitability.
To excel as a Collision Director, you need extensive knowledge of automotive repair, collision industry standards, and management, usually supported by significant experience and technical certifications like I-CAR or ASE. Familiarity with collision estimating software (such as CCC ONE or Mitchell), shop management systems, and insurance processing tools is highly beneficial. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills set top performers apart in this position. These competencies ensure efficient operations, high-quality repairs, and strong customer and team satisfaction in a fast-paced auto body environment.
