Position Summary:
The Collections Specialist I is responsible for the daily collection of past-due Recreation Lending loans. This role helps manage delinquency within acceptable target levels while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and management guidelines.
Essential Functions:
  • Maintains delinquency levels within assigned loan portfolio in alignment with established target rates.
  • Monitors assigned accounts and keeps management informed of portfolio status, trends, and potential risk areas.
  • Performs skip tracing activities on accounts as needed to support collection efforts.
  • Ensures collection activities comply with applicable federal and state collection laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Completes assigned daily workflow accurately, timely, and in accordance with department expectations.
  • Understands and complies with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to the Bank and the role.
  • Escalates operational issues, potential policy violations, code of conduct concerns, regulatory concerns, or suspected illegal activity as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in collections, customer service, or a call center environment required.
  • Experience managing or supporting a similar loan portfolio, with an emphasis on sub-prime lending, preferred.
  • Experience applying general accounting fundamentals, business practices, or banking principles required.

  • Understands sub-prime collection practices and applies sound judgment when supporting collection activities.
  • Proficient in job-related computer systems and software used to perform collection and account management activities.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Work is in an office environment, sustained posture in a seated position for prolonged periods of time; works with computer equipment for prolonged periods of time
  • Some stress may occur
  • Travel is generally not required
  • This position reports to an assigned Team Leader and supervises no one
