Position Summary

The Batch Room Lead is a hands-on, floor-based leader responsible for coordinating day-to-day batching operations within ColdSnap’s production facility. This role directs daily activities, supports team execution, and ensures the accurate, efficient, and compliant production of liquid mixes across our product portfolio, including ice cream, soft serve, protein shakes, smoothies, cocktails, and lattes.

The Lead works closely with the Production Supervisor/Manager and plays a critical role in training, troubleshooting, and driving execution on the floor. This position does not carry full supervisory authority but is essential to maintaining operational flow, food safety, and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead daily batch room operations, including task assignments, workflow, and execution on the floor 
  • Conduct and ensure accurate weighing, measuring, and staging of ingredients according to formulations and batch sheets 
  • Operate and support batching equipment, including mixing tanks, homogenizers, heat exchangers, and related systems 
  • Perform and/or oversee automatic CIP (Clean-in-Place) cycles and other cleaning and sanitation procedures 
  • Conduct and verify titration testing of cleaning chemical dilutions to ensure proper concentration
  • Partner with production team to ensure timely supply of finished mixes to canning and packaging lines 
  • Maintain strict adherence to GMPs, SQF standards, food safety requirements, and sanitation protocols 
  • Review and verify batch records, documentation, and traceability logs for accuracy and compliance 
  • Ensure proper sample collection, labeling, and submission for QA/QC testing 
  • Troubleshoot process issues and serve as the first point of contact for on-floor problem solving 
  • Escalate equipment, quality, safety, or personnel concerns to the Production Supervisor/Manager as appropriate 
  • Train and support batch room personnel on procedures, safety, and best practices; provide coaching and feedback to leadership 
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in batching efficiency, yield, and cost control 
  • Assist with audit preparation and maintain audit readiness at all times 


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of experience in food or beverage manufacturing, preferably in a high-volume production environment 
  • Prior experience as a lead, senior operator, or informal team leader in a batch room or similar operation 
  • Hands-on experience in SQF (or equivalent GFSI) certified facilities 
  • Strong knowledge of batching systems and processing equipment (mixing tanks, homogenizers, heat exchangers, etc.) 
  • Familiarity with canning or aseptic/retort processes is a plus 
  • Solid understanding of GMPs, food safety standards, and sanitation requirements 
  • Experience with ingredient handling, allergen controls, and lot traceability 
  • Strong attention to detail with batching documentation and record-keeping 
  • Ability to read and follow formulations, SOPs, and production schedules 
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems (ERP and/or manufacturing execution systems (MES)experience preferred) 
  • Has or is willing to obtain a valid forklift certification in accordance with OSHA requirements

  • Comfortable safely handling job-related chemicals in accordance with safety procedures and PPE requirements
