Job description

This position codes and abstracts same day surgery medical records of all types following a complete review of the clinical documentation, abstracts and assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT code sets and assigns the correct codes into the hospital Information System. May also code other outpatient work types as assigned by the Coding Manager, including Observation, Emergency Department, Ancillary and Recurring Accounts.

Required: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a Coding Certificate Program is required. At least one of the following: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist),CPC, RHIA or RHIT is required. In addition, 3 years hospital coding experience preferred which includes coding of outpatient Same Day Surgery records using both ICD-10-CM and CPT-4. Demonstration of skills through completion of a hospital administered advanced coding test with a satisfactory score.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education.   If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours.  The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable. 

Pay range: $20.84-$30.68

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00a-4:30p or flexible.
