Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park Elementary

Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park Elementary is seeking a highly motivated and experienced K-8 Technology, Robotics, and STEM Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technology instruction, STEM education, robotics programming, and hands-on project-based learning. This position requires a teacher who can inspire students, build strong STEM foundations, and lead a successful robotics program aligned with our school's mission of academic excellence and innovation.

Position Overview

The K-6 Technology, Robotics, and STEM Teacher will be responsible for teaching technology and STEM-related courses to elementary students while also supporting and developing the school's robotics program. The teacher will create engaging, age-appropriate lessons that promote creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, coding, engineering design, digital literacy, and critical thinking.

The selected candidate must be willing to teach technology, robotics, and other STEM-related subjects based on school needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach K-6 technology, robotics, coding, engineering, and STEM-related lessons.
  • Develop and implement engaging, hands-on, project-based STEM activities.
  • Build students' digital literacy, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Prepare students for robotics competitions, STEM showcases, and school events.
  • Lead and support VEX Robotics teams and related after-school or enrichment opportunities.
  • Integrate STEM concepts with real-world applications and cross-curricular connections.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and student-centered classroom environment.
  • Use data and student work to adjust instruction and support student growth.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and staff to strengthen STEM programming.
  • Support schoolwide STEM initiatives, technology projects, and enrichment activities.
  • Communicate professionally with students, families, staff, and school leadership.
  • Attend required meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Prior teaching experience in technology, robotics, STEM, computer science, engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Proven experience with VEX Robotics is required.
  • Proven track record of preparing students for robotics competitions or STEM-related events is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of elementary-level STEM instruction and student engagement strategies.
  • Ability to teach robotics, coding, engineering design, digital citizenship, and technology skills to young learners.
  • Strong classroom management, organization, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varying skill levels and learning needs.
  • Willingness to teach additional STEM-related subjects based on school programming needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with VEX IQ, VEX GO, or other elementary robotics platforms.
  • Experience leading robotics clubs, competitions, or STEM enrichment programs.
  • Background in computer science, instructional technology, engineering, science, or mathematics.
  • Familiarity with project-based learning, inquiry-based instruction, and STEM integration.
  • Experience working in a diverse K-8 school setting.
  • Ability to support schoolwide technology use and student innovation projects.
