Job description

Provides direct patient care and clinical support by assisting with patient intake, obtaining vital signs, documenting medical information, supporting examinations and procedures, performing point-of-care testing, and maintaining exam room readiness.ย 

Qualifications

Required:

Education/Experience:

  • Successful completion of a nurse assistant training program and knowledge of general nursing assistant functions.
  • Current nursing assistant certification in the State of Kansas
  • BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification within the first two weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
  • Assist patients with mobility, transfers onto exam tables, or dressing changes as needed.
  • Obtain and accurately document vital signs and collect data related to the patientโ€™s visit.
  • Review and document patient information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Assist healthcare providers with physical examinations and procedures as directed.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and specimen collection within the scope of practice.
  • Clean, prepare and stock exam rooms with necessary medical supplies and equipment, ensuring strict adherence to infection control.
  • Label, and process lab specimens (e.g., blood draws, urine samples, swab tests) as directed.
  • Provide basic patient education regarding pre-and post-visit instructions as directed by the nursing or medical staff.
  • Perform general clerical tasks, including document labeling and faxing.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
