Job description

Do you have Fire Sprinkler installation and service experience? Would you like to start a career with a growing company that offers excellent benefits and can offer room for advancement?

Northern Mechanical Contractors, Inc would like to hear from you. We are the Fire Protection Experts servicing Pennsylvania and Delaware for residential and commercial projects.

We are seeking experienced technicians and apprentices to join our team.

Pay rate is based on experience.

DIRECT HIRE POSITION ONLY. We will not entertain any unsolicited communications from staffing agencies. 

Technician Responsibilities:

  • The ability to service, test, inspect and troubleshoot basic and complex fire sprinkler systems with limited or no supervision. Ability to install is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to correspond in a professional manner with contractors, customers, building maintenance personnel, and office personnel to execute daily workload
  • Ability to identify code issues and non-conformance issues
  • Confidence and accuracy making recommendations regarding system installation improvements
  • Commitment to respond and carry out to completion any troubleshooting and repairs on assigned customer systems
  • Exceptional work ethic, reliable and good attention to detail

Apprentice Responsibilities:

  • Familiarity with the NFPA codes
  • Basic experience with installation or service of Fire Sprinkler Systems
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Exceptional work ethic, reliable and good attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn and advance
  • Ability to comprehend instructions

  • High school diploma is required. Industry experience preferred
  • Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to read designs
  • Fluent in English with solid written and verbal skills
  • Familiarity with the national fire codes
  • Thorough knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and the necessary tools
  • Ability to work in a wide variety of conditions, including heights up to 20 feet or more and also able to work in adverse weather conditions (heat and cold)
  • Ability to be on your feet for 8 hours a day and able to lift 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Experience in lift operations and OSHA guidelines preferred.
  • NICET certification a plus but not mandatory.
