Job description

Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company is a leading provider of lumber and building materials, serving the construction industry since 1934. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled Fireplace Installation Helper to join our team. As a Fireplace Installation Helper, you will be responsible for assisting with the installation of various types of fireplaces, ensuring high-quality workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role requires basic technical skills, attention to detail, and the willingness to learn from lead installers on the worksites.
Responsibilities:
  • Install a wide range of fireplaces, including wood-burning and gas models, in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, local building codes, and industry standards.
  • Conduct on-site assessments to determine the feasibility of fireplace installation and identify any potential challenges or modifications required.
  • Prepare installation sites by measuring, cutting, and fitting various materials, including framing, venting components, fireboxes, surrounds, and mantels.
  • Assemble and install fireplace components, including firebox liners, chimneys, vent pipes, and gas lines, ensuring proper alignment, sealing, and connection.
  • Collaborate with customers, contractors, and project managers to discuss installation requirements, address any concerns or questions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fireplaces, including cleaning, inspecting, and replacing damaged or worn-out parts.
  • Maintain accurate records of installed fireplaces, materials used, and hours worked for billing and inventory purposes.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations at all times, ensuring the safe operation of tools, equipment, and the work area.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, product developments, and installation techniques to provide the best service and recommendations to customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • HVAC or carpentry experience helpful.
  • Ability to read and interpret installation manuals, blueprints, or technical drawings preferred.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to handle and operate various hand/power tools.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to unexpected challenges during installation projects.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver quality workmanship.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and climb ladders.
