Job description


Salary: $58,914 annually/$28.32 hourly
The purpose of this position is to perform on-site inspections of structures and properties to ensure compliance with applicable local and state codes and ordinances related to property maintenance and housing quality standards. Duties and responsibilities include performing inspections, preparing records and reports, conducting research, and providing excellent customer service.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs on-site inspections of existing structures and properties in the city limits to ensure compliance with applicable local and state codes and ordinances to ensure public safety, with primary emphasis on violations pertaining to unsafe/unsightly structures, housing quality, sanitation, and property maintenance.
Prepares and maintains reports and records of all inspections, and prepares citations, correspondence concerning codes, and other violations for appropriate distribution.
Uses various computer programs and software, both in the office and in the field, to conduct inspections, photograph and document violations, generate notices, and track activity.
Works with property owners, property managers, landlords, and tenants on matters involving codes and ordinances.
Presents cases before the Code Enforcement and Nuisance Board and in district court.
