To thrive as a Coastal Ambulance EMT, you need strong emergency medical care skills, a valid EMT or paramedic certification, and a solid understanding of medical protocols. Familiarity with ambulance equipment, GPS navigation systems, and patient care reporting software is typically required. Excellent communication, quick decision-making, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are standout soft skills. These skills are crucial for delivering life-saving care efficiently and ensuring patient safety in high-stress, dynamic environments.

What are some typical challenges faced by Coastal Ambulance professionals, and how can applicants prepare for them?

Coastal Ambulance professionals often work in dynamic environments where quick decision-making and adaptability are essential, especially when responding to emergencies in coastal or remote locations. Challenges may include navigating difficult terrain, managing patient care during transport, and coordinating with other emergency services such as fire or marine rescue teams. To prepare, applicants should focus on building strong communication skills, maintaining physical fitness, and gaining familiarity with local geography and emergency protocols. Teamwork and resilience are also key, as shifts can be long and situations unpredictable.

What are Coastal Ambulance services?

Coastal Ambulance services provide emergency and non-emergency medical transportation, particularly in coastal or waterfront areas. Their teams are trained to respond to medical emergencies, transport patients between locations, and offer pre-hospital care en route to medical facilities. They often serve communities where quick access to hospitals may be limited due to geographic factors. Coastal Ambulance crews are equipped to handle a variety of medical situations and ensure patient safety during transit.

At Coastal Ambulance, you'll join a team committed to clinical excellence, professional growth, exceptional patient care and Making Connections for LIFE! We only hire Paramedics who want to truly practice paramedicine—not simply complete transports—and who are ready to build their careers in a dynamic, fast-paced EMS environment.

Why Coastal?

Our Paramedics experience the dynamic nature of ALS and Critical Care transports serving half our patients in the prehospital environment and the rest through interfacility medicine, providing patient care across a broad spectrum of clinically challenging situations. The result being meaningful clinical variety, opportunities to continually build essential knowledge and skills, and the chance to apply the Principles of Paramedicine every shift.

If you're looking for an organization where your clinical skills will be challenged, your growth will be supported, and a confidence that the work you do does make a difference, we'd love to meet you!

What You'll Do

As a Coastal Paramedic, you'll provide high-quality patient assessment, treatment, and transportation while working alongside a team of experienced EMS professionals dedicated to excellence in patient care.

You'll provide care across a wide variety of patient populations and transport types, including:

  • Prehospital
  • Critical Care Transport
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Hospital-to-hospital transport

Whether responding to a prehospital patient or caring for a critically ill patient during an interfacility transport, we’ll rely on your strong assessment skills, sound clinical judgment, and compassionate patient care.

Compensation

Starting pay begins at $25.68 per hour.

Coastal recognizes prior Paramedic experience by adding 1% to base pay for each year of Paramedic experience, up to 10 years. Full-time Paramedics earn an average annual base salary of approximately $58,755-$63,629, before the below shift differentials and overtime.

Shift Differentials

  • Weekday Overnights (2300-0700): +$4.00/hour
  • Weekend Days: +$4.50/hour

Overtime is paid at time-and-one-half for all hours worked over 40 in a workweek. Regular full time shifts are 36/48 per payroll, guaranteeing 8 hours of Overtime each pay period.
