Head Coach/GM of Coaching

D1 Training - Sandy Springs

Job description

Benefits:
  • Bonus based on performance
  • Free uniforms
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Paid time off

This is not a “show up, coach, clock out” job. At D1 Sandy Springs, the Head Coach owns the coaching product end to end — the athletes, the staff, the retention, the upsells, and the numbers behind all of it. Think of it as running your own division: you’re the GM of everything that happens on the training floor, and the scoreboard is yours.
We’re hiring for one specific reason; we want a coach who loves the numbers as much as the whistle. If a clean KPI dashboard and a full re-up pipeline fire you up as much as a PR on the platform, keep reading. If they don’t, this isn’t your role, and that’s okay.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF…

  • You want to run a business, not just a session.
  • You’d rather own an outcome, retention, revenue, athlete progress, than check off a task list.
  • You believe the best coaches are also the best closers, because they’ve earned the trust to be.
  • You want to know every member’s name, goal, and progress by heart.
  • A tight operation — clean data, sharp processes, a dialed-in staff — is genuinely satisfying to you.
THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF…
  • You see the admin, the CRM, and the numbers as “the boring part.”
  • You want to coach and hand retention, sales, and the back office to someone else.
  • “Business partner” sounds like more than you signed up for.
We’ve learned this the hard way: coaches who only want to coach don’t last in this seat. We’d rather be upfront.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN
  • The floor. You’re on it — coaching group sessions and 1:1 personal training every week. You set the energy, the standard, and the culture. You’re the face members see and the reason they come back.
  • The members. You know them by name, by goal, by exactly where they are in their journey. You lead graduation check-ins — the sit-downs where you walk each athlete and their family through their TeamBuildr progress, celebrate the wins, and map the next phase. This is where re-ups and upgrades are won or lost, and it’s yours.
  • Retention. You watch engagement like a hawk. You spot the member who’s slipping before they ghost, and you get them back. Churn is a number you take personally.
  • Growth. Every assessment, trial, and check-in is a chance to grow the business. You convert trials, drive re-ups, and upsell into PT and premium packages — not with pressure, but with proof, using each athlete’s own data to show them what’s next.
  • The numbers. Attendance, retention, class utilization, lead conversion, PT attach rate, revenue per member — you build the dashboard, read it weekly, and act on it. When ownership asks how the coaching product is performing, you already know.
  • The team. You hire, train, schedule, and develop the coaching staff. You hold the line on coaching quality, communication, and professionalism. You’re the HR of your division,  you build the bench and keep it sharp.
  • The machine. Processes and SOPs, the CRM and scheduling system, TeamBuildr programming, and the tools and equipment on the floor. If something’s broken or sloppy, you fix it before it becomes a problem.
YOUR SCOREBOARD
You’ll be measured and rewarded on the things that actually move the business:
  • Member retention & churn
  • Re-up and upsell revenue (PT attach, package upgrades)
  • Trial-to-member conversion
  • Class utilization & attendance
  • Coaching quality & staff performance
  • Athlete progress against TeamBuildr benchmarks
If those numbers excite you, we should talk.

WHO THRIVES HERE

  • Former collegiate (or higher) athlete — you know what elite development actually takes.
  • Real experience coaching youth and adult athletes, with genuine love for developing people.
  • Fluent with data — you can build, read, and act on a tracking sheet or KPI report without being asked twice.
  • Relentlessly organized — nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • A natural closer — every interaction is a chance to build trust, retain a member, and grow the business.
  • A leader coaches, athletes, parents, and adult clients all trust.
  • An owner — you take responsibility for outcomes, not just effort.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3+ years coaching, personal training, or sports performance experience
  • Certification required: CSCS, NASM, USAW, or equivalent
  • CPR/AED certified, or willing to obtain before start
  • Prior experience in a gym, studio, or franchise environment strongly preferred
  • Comfort with TeamBuildr, a CRM/scheduling platform, and spreadsheets — or the ability to get comfortable fast
WHAT WE OFFER
  • Competitive base + performance incentives tied directly to your scoreboard (retention, sales, KPIs) you share in the results you drive.
  • A clear path to grow as the business scales — this seat is built to become a true leadership role.
  • A mission-driven culture that develops athletes and people, and treats coaches like the operators they are.
