About Sussex Academy
Sussex Academy is a public K-12 charter school in Sussex County, Delaware, serving approximately 1,200 students across elementary and secondary campuses. Preferred Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
  • Communicates with assistant coaches in regards to roles, duties and expectations
  • Works collaboratively with coaches to implement organized practice plans and game strategies.
  • Helps oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  • Responsible for adherence to all HAC, DIAA, and school rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Prepares detailed inventory of team equipment and updates inventory after each session.
  • Maintains and updates team and individual records.
  • Follow and practice Sussex Academy's Mindful Coach Profile.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that relate to this position.

Relationships:
  • Communicates effectively with athletes and parents.
  • Establishes and maintains good rapport with faculty, administration, and coaching staff.
  • Keeps commitments and is punctual.
  • Supports team as well as individual accomplishments.
  • Cooperates with the athletic trainer in regards to athletes' physical well being.

Performance:
  • Conducts self in a professional and sportsmanlike manner at all times.
  • Represents the school in an ethical and professional manner at all times.
  • Promotes and monitors effective individual and team conduct at practice, during meets and in our schools and community to support Sussex Academy
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship between the athlete, academics and overall athletic and school program.

Requirements:
  • Possess CPR certification and concussion protocol training or willingness to become certified (Head and Assistant Coaches).
  • Clean Criminal Background Check, Delaware Child Protection Registry clearance, TB test must be completed prior to the start of employment or work with student athletes.
