We are hiring for full-time daytime and evening Cleaning Team Members.
CATS Academy is a busy international boarding High School located in Braintree, MA. Recently we made the decision to bring all custodial duties in-house.
We are looking for dynamic and passionate Cleaning Team Members to join our Custodial team which is fully integrated and involved within the CATS community.
The Custodial Team has such an important part in keeping the school an amazing place to work and study in, and is highly respected.
Job Overview
The primary job of a Cleaning Team Member is keeping the CATS Academy campus clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with management. Cleaning Team Members must maintain all CATS Academy building(s) in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program. Cleaning Team Members provides direct support to Faculty and Staff in cleaning and sanitation of furniture and equipment, as well as upkeep for common areas and high touch surfaces.
Cleaning Team Members will be responsible for the following responsibilities below, along with any other task assigned to him or her by their supervisor. The Cleaning Team Member also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature.
Essential Responsibilities:
โ€ข Performs all routine cleaning, servicing, and restocking of supplies in building.
โ€ข Make certain all areas of the building are kept in a clean, sanitary and orderly condition according to industry standards, regular activities include: Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and refinish floors; clean, sanitize, dust and polish furniture; wash windows and walls; clean and sanitize restrooms, and dispose of rubbish using prescribed procedures. This include offices, residence halls, and other campus buildings.
โ€ข Maintains lavatories ensuring a clean and sanitary condition. Checks all bathrooms to ensure cleanliness and adequacy of supplies. Cleans as required.
โ€ข Cleans and sanitizes desks, chairs, tables, cabinets, and other office or classroom equipment.
โ€ข Removes trash, sanitizes, and re-lines waste containers as needed and pick up litter within the school and on school grounds.
โ€ข Applies cleaning chemicals according to established safety procedures.
โ€ข Adheres to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipment.
โ€ข Removes extraneous dirt/markings from interior and exterior vertical/horizontal surfaces (walls, doors, etc.).
โ€ข Responsible for detail work such as polishing brass, stainless steel, drinking fountains, dusting ledges, corners, baseboards, and all furniture without disturbing customers' personal belongings.
โ€ข Follows proper recycling procedures; reports damages noticed in assigned areas, or other items that may not be working properly; changes all burned out light bulbs.
โ€ข Cleans and supports special events on campus
โ€ข Clean gymnasium and locker rooms. (HS - PE Locker Rooms)
โ€ข Cleans cafeteria between lunch periods
โ€ข Keeps all equipment in a good state of repair and cleanliness.
โ€ข Uses all chemicals in accordance with the chemicals material safety data sheets to prevent property damage and safety to self.
โ€ข Secures school buildings and cleaning closets to ensure proper building security at all times.
โ€ข Attend safety training, which may include First Aid, CPR, and OSHA.
โ€ข Follow key sign-in and sign-out procedures; implements technical and safety methods as instructed by his or her supervisor
โ€ข Advise building Maintenance Supervisor on matters relating to mechanical equipment and/or building maintenance.
โ€ข Washes and cleans windows, light fixtures, ventilators, and other items which may require using a 4 foot step ladder.
โ€ข Moves furniture, office equipment, and other items or supplies which necessitate the lifting or pushing of heavy or bulky articles weighing up to 25 pounds.
โ€ข Performs other work-related duties as assigned. Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

โ€ข Must pass a CORI/SORI background check before work commences.
โ€ข Must be able to work in the US.
โ€ข One year of previous cleaning experience desired.
โ€ข Must be able to function well in a team/community environment, displaying common courtesies and politeness.
โ€ข Ability to establish and maintain good working relations with supervisors, fellow workers, students and faculty members.
โ€ข Incumbents must have successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
โ€ข Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures, materials and equipment.
โ€ข Must be flexible and willing to work alone, as well as in a team and in different shifts if needed.
โ€ข Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions requiring the ability to concentrate and consistently produce accurate work while responding to interruptions and changing priorities.
โ€ข Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction; sound judgment and decision making capabilities are essential.
โ€ข Ability to work weekdays, weekends, and during special events as needed.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and give and receive oral and written instructions. The employee frequently must stoop, or kneel, crouch, or crawl and reach above the head, and reach forward. The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp equipment, cleaning tools, and materials. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and waist more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, including cleaning supplies, pails, furniture, and bags/boxes. The employee will sometimes push or pull items such as tables, bleachers, scrubbing machines, etc. This job requires close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors, including during both hot and cold weather. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. All duties and procedures are to be performed within health safety standards as established by local and state OSHA and school district emergency procedures.
