Job description

**This is an in-office role, based in Austin, TX. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. Visa is not available.**

Service Insurance Companies is on the search for a Claims Processor to join the team!

About the Role: The Claims Processor will work closely with all Processors, Adjusters and Supervisors providing clerical and administrative support.


Responsibilities: 

  • Receive, identify, sort, date stamp and distribute in compliance with each States Workers Compensation rules and statutes, and the company’s deadlines, all mail, faxes and all official State forms and letters. 
  • Assists in the process of workers compensation claims and maintain claim files along with administrative work.
  • Handle all certified and overnight mail.
  • Enter, print, sort and mail checks for indemnity and medical claims.
  • Enter new claims into system with accuracy and detail.
  • Operates all office equipment.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls with a professional demeanor. 
  • Maintain filing; responsible for records retention and miscellaneous projects, as needed.
  • Handles task assigned for different adjusters, processes State forms, police reports, Return to Provider, Cease & Desist, and Retro Utilization Review letters. Serves as back up to various Support team members. 
  • Must have the ability to work in different claim systems along with other digital processes.
  • Must be willing to handle other duties as assigned. 
  • Assists with Electronic Data Interchange (EDI).
  • Providing customer service and support for the Adjusters and Supervisors.


Experience, Knowledge & Skills: 

  • Office and/or administrative experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of office procedures.
  • Working knowledge of MSWord and Excel.
  • Ability to work with speed and accuracy.
  • Must maintain a positive behavior by acting and communicating in a professional manner, to get along with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all types of people.
  • Should have good math and typing skills.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to prioritize.
  • Nice to have: Bilingual in Spanish.


Professional Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • Preference of Workers Compensation experience, but not mandatory.

Salary Range: Starting at $52,000 ($25 P/HR). Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
