Job description

Our Cyber Security Team monitors and protects Laboratory research from IT threats. The team operates a security operation center which looks at network traffic to find and eliminate threats from malware, spear fishing, and other attacks against the Lab. The team also looks for any vulnerabilities in our current environment and helps identify and develop solutions to mitigate these risks.

Position Description

Summer 2026

Our Cyber Security Team monitors and protects Laboratory research from IT threats. The team operates a security operation center which looks at network traffic to find and eliminate threats from malware, spear fishing, and other attacks against the Lab. The team also looks for any vulnerabilities in our current environment and helps identify and develop solutions to mitigate these risks.

Seeking a qualified co-op candidate to support the Cyber Security Team between May -September 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day operations within Cyber Security team
  • Assist with monitoring and analysis of network traffic and security alerts
  • Help identify potential threats, vulnerabilities, and anomalous activity
  • Contribute to efforts focused on mitigating cyber security risks
  • Work collaboratively with cyber security professionals in a mission-driven research environment

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Interest in cyber security operations and protecting enterprise systems
  • Familiarity with basic networking, operating systems, or security concepts
  • With great attention to detail demonstrate strong analytical and  writing skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Compensation for 2025 (will be reviewed for 2026)

  • Technical Co-Op: $24.50 – $31.00 per hour (based on year in school)
  • Administrative Co-Op: $21.50 – $25.00 per hour (based on year in school)

Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
