MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT

As a Cloud Engineer , the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of our CNIC N6 IT Support team which provides system administration and development/maintenance support of Commander, Navy Installation Command (CNIC).

  • The CNIC Cloud Engineer will provide engineering, modernization, and migration support for CNIC Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS), including G2 SharePoint, custom applications, Microsoft and Linux-based systems as they transition from onpremises data centers to DoW/Navy M365, Azure (FlankSpeed) environments. This role supports our cloud migration efforts and ensures continuity, modernization, and cloud interoperability across CNIC's hybrid enterprise architecture. Responsibilities include cloud architecture design, proficient in implementing cloud native services, migration engineering, security alignment, testing, documentation, and operational continuity per CNIC PWS requirements.

  • Perform cloud engineering and design tasks to support the migration of CNIC G2 SharePoint sites, .Net, custom-coded applications, Windows Server, and Linux systems into Azure cloud environments.

  • Evaluate legacy G2 SharePoint applications and recommend target cloud architecture and modernization approaches.

  • Develop phased migration plans aligned with CNIC's enterprise roadmap and SQL database modernization strategies.

  • Configure, deploy, and integrate applications in cloud environments following DoW 8570.1, 8500.1, SECNAV 5510.30B/36A, and RMF cybersecurity requirements.

  • Support Identity & Access Management modernization including federation, SSO, RBAC, Azure Cloud, ADDS, Identity, and integration.

  • Collaborate with cybersecurity to ensure Zero Trust, compliance, and IATT/ATO accreditation support.

  • Provide engineering support for cloud-based tools, analytics platforms, and interoperability modernization.

  • Maintain operational continuity of existing CNIC G2, EBS systems during assessment and migration phases.

  • Support engineering documentation, testing artifacts, deployment guides, and modernization procedures.

  • Provide Tier II/III engineering and troubleshooting support for cloud and legacy systems.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Bring your engineering expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. Our Cloud Engineer must have:

  • Security Clearance Level: Active Top Secret clearance.

  • Required Experience:

  • 8 years of cloud engineering, systems engineering, or migration engineering experience.

  • Cloud or Server engineering certification.

  • Azure Gov.

  • FlankSpeed/NAVSEA CSM coordination and account management.

  • Migration of SharePoint (onprem) to cloud.

  • Application migration approaches (rehost/refactor/replatform).

  • Hybrid/onprem to cloud networking, VPNs, identity synchronization.

  • Automation.

  • Infrastructure as code.

  • Linux systems migration/support.

  • RMF, cybersecurity controls, Zero Trust.

  • FinOps awareness (cost optimization, tagging standards).

  • Change Management (CAB, docs, governance).

  • Required Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT II compliant - Security+ CE

  • Education: BS Degree in Computer Science or IT discipline.

The likely salary range for this position is $129,813 - $161,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
